Fitbit Is Now Google Health: How to Keep Your Measurements Syncing

If you’ve been using Fitbit with Progress, we have an update on how your measurements reach us. The good news is that keeping everything in sync is still simple, and it only takes a couple of minutes to set up.

Fitbit is now Google Health

In May 2026, Google renamed the Fitbit app to Google Health. It still works with your Fitbit devices, including Fitbit scales, and you now sign in with your Google Account.

Google Health syncs with Apple Health

Google Health can share your data directly with Apple Health on your iPhone. That includes your weight and body fat percentage, so readings from your Fitbit scale can land in Apple Health automatically.

Progress already syncs with Apple Health. So once Google Health is connected, your weight and body fat can flow from your Fitbit into Progress, and when you add today’s entry we’ll fill them in for you. It works the other way too. The weight and body fat you log in Progress are saved to Apple Health, where Google Health can pick them up.

Why we’ve removed Fitbit sync

With Google Health and Apple Health talking to each other directly, Progress doesn’t need a separate Fitbit connection any more. So we’ve removed Fitbit sync from the app, and your data now has one simple route in, through Apple Health.

There’s a bonus too. Apple Health sync is free in Progress, so everyone can use it.

We know changes like this can take a little getting used to, especially when you’ve found a routine that works for you. That’s why we’ve kept the new setup quick.

How to set it up

In Google Health

  1. Open the Google Health app.
  2. At the top left, tap Connections, then Apps and services.
  3. Under Add connections, tap Apple Health, then tap Get started.
  4. Tap Agree and follow the prompts.
  5. Choose what to share. Turn All Categories On is the easiest option, or just make sure weight and body fat percentage are switched on. Then tap Allow.
  6. Tap Done.

Google’s help page has more detail if you need it.

In Progress

If Apple Health sync is already on, you’re all set. If not, open the Me screen and turn on Apple Health sync for your profile.

That’s it. Your measurements will keep flowing into Progress, so you can spend less time typing and more time celebrating how far you’ve come.
