Works with Apple Health

In a nutshell

Progress helps you track the measurements and photos that show how your body is really changing, because the number on the scales isn’t the only one that matters.

We’ve been on the App Store since 2012. You can track 17 body measurements plus 10 of your own, keep progress photos side by side, see your BMI and waist to height ratio, and sync it all with Apple Health. Everything lives in your own iCloud.

Progress isn’t a diet plan and it isn’t a workout programme. It’s a measurement tool for people who find body change hard. No aspirational physiques, no shaming, no ads. Every body is welcome and every goal is valid.

Coming with iOS 27

These features are in development and will arrive in a free update alongside Apple’s iOS 27 release. If you’d like to try them before then, get in touch and we’ll sort you out with a build.

Log a measurement without picking up your phone

When you’re holding a tape measure, you don’t have a free hand for your phone. It’s the most common moment of friction in a body measurement app, and it’s never really had a good answer. Soon you’ll just say it.

You’ll say “Hey Siri, log my waist in Progress”, Siri will ask you for the value, you’ll answer “34 and a half”, and it’ll be saved without the app ever opening. It handles stone, pounds, kilograms, inches and centimetres, converting to whatever unit you prefer, and it reads the way people actually talk. “17 and three quarters” works. So does “32 and 13 sixteenths”, and “12.5 stone”.

Every action is a Shortcuts action too, so Progress will run from the Action button, Control Centre, the Lock Screen, Back Tap, an NFC tag on the bathroom scale, or a time or location automation. All of this is free. None of it will sit behind our paywall.

The whole Siri surface is localised, not just the app. On a French phone you’ll say “Afficher mes progrès dans Progress” and Siri will answer in French.

Onscreen awareness for Apple Intelligence

Progress will tell the system which measurement you’re looking at, so Siri understands what’s on screen without you having to name it in full. It shares the name of the measurement only, never the value.

Waist to height, and Apple Health

We’ve added waist to height ratio, worked out automatically from the measurements you already keep. The NHS publishes a waist to height calculator and NICE recommends it as a simple check to use alongside BMI, so it’s a number more people are being told to pay attention to. What’s been missing is somewhere easy to keep it.

A note for accuracy: waist to height is recommended alongside BMI, not as a replacement for it. NICE positions it as an additional measure for people with a BMI under 35.

We’re also one of the few apps that writes Waist Circumference to Apple Health, and we’ve supported Health since day one. Waist circumference itself has been in Progress since 2012.
